Lady Raiders Continue Their Winning Ways

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA-The defending Dulles District Champions opened their season with a 68-34 win over AAA Loudoun Valley. The Lady Raiders jumped out to a 25-4 first quarter lead and never looked back.

Junior Alissa Kain was outstanding in the opening quarter. She scored 11 of her 16 points and was active on both ends of the court. Kain also had 7 rebounds and 3 steals.

Sophomore Brittany Batts put on a shooting clinic in the second half. Batts scored 19 of her career high 33 points in the last two quarters. For the game, Batts was 11 of 22 from the floor, 6 of 12 from three point range, and 5 of 5 from the free throw line. Batts also had 3 steals.

Batts and Kain weren't the only players doing damage for the Lady Raiders. Junior Kendra Holmes controlled the paint. Holmes had 10 rebounds, 4 block shots, and 3 steals to go along with her 5 points. Kerry Sarver, the Raider lone senior, had a nice all-around game with 9 assist and 4 rebounds while running the point guard position.

All 11 players for Loudoun County played well as 6 of the Lady Raiders were making their varsity debut.

Loudoun County will be back in action Wednesday night against a talented Turner Ashby team in the Liberty Tournament.
