FAIRFAX, VA - In week five of the regular season, the Lake Braddock Bruins lost a close, heart-palpitating contest to the Robinson Rams. Three weeks earlier, they lost a squeaker to the W.T. Woodson Cavaliers by one measly point. Two weeks ago, after upending Fairfax in the first round of the postseason, the Bruins earned a much-anticipated rematch with Robinson amidst chants of "We want the Rams!" Last week, they got the Rams, and marched to a commanding 38-7 victory, earning a trip to the Northern Region Final, and a rematch with the Cavaliers.
Setting the pace early on, the Bruins allowed a pair of Woodson first downs, but forced the Cavaliers to punt from well inside their own territory. Taking the ball on their own 45 yard line, Lake Braddock chewed up most of the first quarter on their first possession of the game, driving all the way down to the Cavaliers' 4 yard line, but failed to convert thanks in part to the outstanding play of Josh Hogan, this year's Patriot District Player of the Year. Nick Weiler converted the 21-yard attempt to give the Bruins the early 3-0 lead.
