Centreville Golf Places 2nd at Licklider Memorial

FRONT ROYAL, VA - While most students are still enjoying summer vacation, Centreville's Varsity Golf team has picked right back up on last year's winning ways. The 2010-11 high school sports season officially teed off on Thursday, August 5th with the 9th annual Curly Licklider Memorial golf tournament at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club, in Front Royal, VA, sponsored by Warren County High School.
Coached by Physical Education teacher Geordi Bigus, senior Chris Upham nailed a 15-foot putt for an eagle on the par-5 9th hole, en route to a 6-over-par 77 on the day. Sophomore Keon Ho "Chris" Song led the Wildcats with a team-best 4-over-par 75. Junior Marria Cho & sophomore Shaan Kologi contributed to the team success by carding 84 & 85, respectively. Chris Song finished in a four-way tie for 3rd place in the individual category.
Albemarle HS won the event with a 319, followed by Centreville (321), Dominion (323) and Loudoun County (324).
Next up for the Wildcat Golf team is the Servpro Invitational at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Clifton, on Tuesday & Wednesday, August 10 & 11.
